I just returned from Udon Immigration with ink still wet on fresh retirement extension and multi-entry permit.

A very big “Thank You” to UbonJoe. I used his fillable form package found in Template thread. I added Foriegner fact sheet and power of attorney  form so FIL would not have to go to town for TM30.

We arrived office about 9:30 to receive #6 for queue. There were two desks working. After about 10 minutes both finished with persons they were helping so I and the one gentlemen there before me were both seated at desks. The lady immediately started scouring over my “originals” package without my saying a word. As she is about half way through another lady comes over to start with the “copies” pile taking out what she needed, returning the rest to me. The first lady does the arithmetic on the income letter then commences sorting the stack in her preferred order stamping and signing as she goes. When finished with the paper stack she begins the stamping and writing in my passport. She passes the whole pile of stuff to the higher ups.  Maybe 15 or so minutes later my passport is back, the re-entry permit lady does the scanner and photos, informs me today's charge will be 5800 baht and informs I should stop by 90 day reporting desk on way out.

All told too easy.  Back in car 10:22 ready to roll.

Again, Thank You, UbonJoe not only for the form package but also no none sense, cut through the bull$hit guidance.

Can you break down the charges. I expect it is 1,900 baht for the extension and 3,800 for multiple entry re-entry permit. Did they itemize the extra 100 baht?

Hahah Brit Tim, exactly my thoughts too. OP got <deleted> of 100 baht, and didn´t even react.... Sorry, that immigration still doing these stunts with us falangs.

So word of advice, ALWAYS bring even money with you to immigration. And when they start to talk about "tip"..... just ignore them...

You know, if they started to mention a 100 baht tip in a 3900 baht bill, and I felt it might move things along, I may just get absent minded over the change too.

problem with that kind of thinking and cowardly acting, is that an exceptionally act of asking for a 100 baht will VERY soon be an everyday event, and the amounts will also soon start to raise...

So try to stand your ground a little bit at least in life..

We have a saying in my EU home country and I go by that and works well for me so.

=Good lubrication, drives well.=

Everyone as he believes.

I resent the use of the word 'cowardly', I am certainly not living in fear of losing 100 baht. The extension for one year  is cheap, and has been the same  price for a long time. Should go up.

Getting into any argument with immigration officials is a lose lose in my mind.

We do also have a "say" in my home, and that is;

"if you lay with dogs, you will certainly end up with fleas"

So no thank you, a coward I am not...

You just do not understand i guess. Do you really think I was talking about the 100 baht? When I am in fact are talking abour being afraid of the immigration-officer... Bribing officials here is a way of living I guess, But "the non-giving", it can start somewhere, so why not with you, the brave warrier....

I have lived here for over 12 years and not found it necessary in immigration even once.

YOU mentioned 100 baht specifically!

Well, I don't know about the 100 Baht but when I do my yearly extension at Udorn I usually give the officer serving me, some fruit. This is not intended as a bribe and it started a few years ago. At that time one of the female officers (and the one that served on that day) had a real hard time with a couple of foreigners. They spoke English but with strong accent so I suspected English was not their native language. They were shouting at her and in fact I was very surprised that a 'superior' from the office behind didn't come out to see what was going on. In my opinion they weren't dressed appropriately either. I just thought that if there were other's like those two the IO's day might not always be a nice one. When it came to my turn the same officer served me very politely and my extension was was completed in 10 minutes. I had some Water Melons in my car that I had bought from a stall on the way into Udorn so I returned to the IO and gave her two. I just told her it was a 'thank you' for such a quick service. My intention, however, was to show her that some of us foreigners appreciated and respected the IO.

Wow! And this is why I will never be a good EXPAT.

Here I am, happy for the simple, courteous, fast service and all along I should have been furious over being charged $3 too much........

Honestly, I didn’t catch it at the time and quite frankly, I don’t care. If it was a simple math error, it happens.  If it was intentional lie to steal $3 then she needs $3 more than I do.  I hope it brings her peace and happiness.

PS   Please spare the cowardly crap. That is ridiculous and uncalled for.  Right up there with the Lame Dope Over Payers are ruining it for every one else.

1st - Get rid of all parasites on the dogs you know or like so well, that you lay with them, lol

anyway I like dogs a lot and

I usually trust people which my dogs like, but I am careful with people who do not like dogs! lol

So we would have already a problem.

2nd - Make what you want and comfortable with and I make the same -

What this has to do with what you quoted i dont know. But I think you did good, i find it completely OK to bring fruit or like in my own case homemade coffebread...... This is completely different from the demand that many IO have when it comes to "tips"..

Yes, you're right, I just thought standing up yourself can take different forms and don't consider it 'cowardly' to show some respect.

Photo, copy chop...I have one coming up at CM, and I am certainly envious of that account.  WO der if the OP is going to go have a celebration at Nutty Park.

Don't arrive at 9.30am and expect ticket 6 or any ticket at all.

And two officers serving the "extension of stay desk",that last happened in the good old days at Airport IMM when at one point there were even 3! That was of course before other events that changed the situation.
