Ultracet painkiller and poss side effects......

Featured Replies

My local pharmacy didn't have any Panadol Fast Acting, so recommended "Ultracet", one I hadn't seen before, which I bought.

Before taking it I looked inside for instructions, but alas they were not in English, so took just one as I thought that being an over-the-counter medicine, one should be fine/safe.

Slept OK but the next morning I didn't feel quite "with it", then after eating I felt nauseous and not too well at all.

Got onto the internet and as this pain killer contains Tramadol it can/does cause bad interactions if alcohol is consumed. I did have a few glasses of wine with dinner, but nothing else I could see that would affect me this way.

So beware of this interaction because I feel quite sick and unsteady on my feet, not to mention spaced out, so driving could be dangerous.

As a general rule you need to be careful when using alcohol with ANY painkiller. Even in recommended doses you could potentially get liver impairment, stomach lining issues, etc.

Are you taking painkillers as a regular thing for a chronic condition or just a one off for a headache ? If a regular chronic user...you should be very careful about drinking with it.

Take Panadol on the odd occasion if an old football or tennis injury flares up, certainly not a regular user tonray.

What has made the difference is the inclusion of Tramadol along with paracetamol and when looking Tramadol up, the interactions with other drugs number over 700!!

One to beware of and have thrown them out now.....and a trap for the unwary.

That's what the opiates do to me with or without alcohol I just avoid them,my go to painkillers are a paracetamol and a diaclofinac that combo seems to sort out the odd flare up.I always Google drugs before I take them It's a no brainer really.
