BANGKOK — The national rights agency said Monday it will convene an independent inquiry into the death of military cadet whose family suspects a cover-up of foul play.

A high-profile member of the National Human Rights Commissions said the body will summon all relevant parties to get to the bottom of what really happened to Pakapong Tanyakan, including commanders of the academy where he died last month.

Or a dog and pony act which pretty much covers the only 2 things possible in cases like these.

show, show , show; LOS, land of show; place where half-truths are regarded as quite ok

The National Human Rights Commission never had any credibility and is a waste of time in any case where an expectation exists to find againt the military government. Still it'll put on a show in the hope that a few people will be persuaded that it gives a brass razoo for the people of Thailand. It's a dog and pony show that the government puts on in the knowledge that nothing useful will come of it.

The UN knows it, the international community knows it and the landed barons of Thailand know about it, indeed count on it to put up a facade of civilisation on cue from their political serfs.

They must have money?  Anyway nothing will happen The national rights agency is run by the army so expect no miracles here. They are about as handy as a tick on a dog Just a bunch of suckers with a fancy title and snouts in the trough

No, it will ASK all relevant parties.

The Thailand NHRC has no subpoena power.

There is no consequence for one to ignore TNHRC's request for an interview, particularly for military personnel.
