Hi,
my license will have to be renewed in about 6 months.
No big deal but I had a little issue with the peripheral vision test (and a rather unpleasant lady monitoring it) in BKK last time.
Read that other people had problems with that as well.
But I also read that in Chiang Mai they don't do that test and since I am planning to go there during Xmas to new year I thought I might try to do it there.

Can anyone confirm they are not doing that test there?

Either way I am wondering whether they will revoke my still valid license if I fail that test?
In that case I might better pretend I lost it so I can flash my current one at least for a while longer.

I also heard that now you have to do the whole driving test again when you renew your license but I think that must be wrong.

Thanks for advice,
Joe

I am blind in one eye and have a legal licence. If they think your eyesight is not correct they give you a form to take to a hospital, get yourself checked and the doctor will sign it. If so you are fine.

Ow ok.

Yeh well I am sure my eyes are fine (besides being shortsighted).
Either way I am sure some doc will be willing to sing anything for a smile ;)

They sent me to an international hospital, you can't choose where (in Pattaya)And i am sure the hospital would allow the pay and ok method.

I need to correct my last message.

I am sure the hospital WON'T take money to write a false certificate.

I am sure you will be ok, at worst have to wear glasses.

When I renwed my licence a few years back they gave me an eye test (both eyes at once), along with a reaction test, so if you can see okay that should be fine. As for the doctors certificate I needed one just today to get my Internation licence to ride my bikes in Europe and he just ask me a couple of questions. There again, if you your problem is not obvious and is not noticeable there shouldn't be a problem.

£700 all up to get a bike licence in the UK, so 505 baht is a bargain for the years I have left riding, unless I am still riding at 125.
