EXAT speeds up construction of additional motorways to relieve traffic congestion

BANGKOK, 28th November 2017 (NNT) - The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) is constructing more motorways to ease traffic congestion in Bangkok and major provinces across the country.

e the expressway linking Rama III Road-Dao Khanong and the Western Outer Ring Road

The EXAT Committee Chairman, Gen. Wiwat Suchart, said his agency is the EXAT is currently constructing an expressway linking Rama III Road and Dao Khanong and the Western Outer Ring Road. The EXAT is also building the "third-phase" expressway between the northern and eastern routes and the Kathu-Patong Expressway in Phuket.

Gen. Wiwat said the EXAT has been conducting studies on the Udon Ratthaya – Ayutthaya expressway project, Chalong Rat - Nakhon Nayok – Saraburi expressway project as well as a master plan on expressways in Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen and Phuket.

The EXAT is currently operating eight expressways, covering a total distance of 224.6 kilometers.

One really must wonder, when all the vehicles reach the end of all these new roads into Bangkok, just where will they actually go or will they even be able to move in the worsening log jam?

Last I heard their savings were starting to reach critical low levels.

Wonder when they will cause an economic crash. Keeping the baht so high will eventually come back and bite them in the buttocks...

Maybe then my dollar will be worth something again.

The more roads that are built, the more vehicles that are bought. It's a vicious cycle.

One way to relieve traffic congestion in the capital is to prohibit vehicles with single occupants entering certain, pre-determined areas. It might force commuters to car-pool, but doubt if it would actually work here.

Building more and more ròads, streets and infrastructure in general isn't solving the problem.

Last year the road between Pranburi and the south was resurfaced, now its already starting to fall apart with big potholes in many places. When they build a road in Malaysia it last for long time and the surface is much smoother. We have all heard about the corruption involved in big government projects in Thailand and it seems like Thailand will never get rid of this cancer.

Not to worry... When the roads are done the car can fly or drive automatic so a lot of space :cheesy:

when i asked a friend on mine,thai traffic/road engineer why they were resurfacing a road that was near perfect , he gave me the classic 'you-still-dont-get-it' look; in his own way, he was saying to me that it is

N O T about need; it is about finishing projects (however foolish they might have been), spending yet unspent budgeted monies and, yes, greasing corruption;

so in the end, we get road  work that is needed not done and road work that isn't needed done
