DEQP ready to mark Thai Environment Day this Dec 4

BANGKOK, 28 November 2017 (NNT) – The Department of Environmental Quality Promotion (DEQP) is ready to publicize royal initiatives concerning environmental conservation in observance of Thai Environment Day this year.

As December 4 of every year is Thai Environment Day as well as Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Volunteer Day, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment Somchai Masathian revealed that preparations are being made by the DEQP for commemorative activities in Bangkok and all regions of the country.

The Thai Environment Day events this year aim to encourage the application of royal initiatives of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn among Thai people, particularly those related to social service and environmental conservation.

As part of the event in Bangkok, to be held this December 4 from 9 am-4 pm at the Thailand Cultural Center, there will be a special lecture by Mr Amphon Senanarong, honorary advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and former Privy Councilor of the Ninth Reign.

Another event to mark Thai Environment Day is scheduled for December 9-11 at Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

As December 4 of every year is Thai Environment Day

Wow! I have been here more than ten years and I have to confess to not knowing anything about an Environment Day in Thailand. Given the state of the streams and rivers and the rubbish everywhere, I guess a large number of Thais are totally unaware too. Aside from dealing with the road carnage, this really should be a top priority.

Just a token gesture in a sea of garbage.

They can't see the wood for the plastic bags!

Yawn.......
