Police have confiscated illicit drugs with a retail value of more than Bt2 billion this month.

The haul covered 10.5 million methamphetamine tablets and two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. It was the second big haul in less than two weeks.

On November 21, police arrested Pongsakorn Paworn, 21, and seized 10.31 million methamphetamine tablets in Samut Prakan’s Bang Phli district.

“When we got the last haul, we thought it was really big. But this time, the haul was even bigger,” National Police Commissioner Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda said at a press conference.

According to police, these two hauls were related because Pongsakorn’s testimony allowed police to trace Sarawut Noenphu, 31, and Alongkorn Yongprayut, 26. Sarawut and Alongkorn were arrested on December 1 in Bangkok’s Khan Na Yow district. About 10.5 million methamphetamine tablets were found in their vehicle.

A further search at their rented house uncovered 12 bags of crystal methamphetamine, each weighing 1kg.

“Sarawut and Alongkorn have already admitted wrongdoing,” Chakthip said, adding that police would investigate further so as to nail down all their accomplices.

He said the gang had transported the illicit drugs from the North to the South. “We are connecting the dots to determine who else is involved, but we cannot disclose the details at this point,” he said.

Who and how is the supervision conducted when such drugs are later destroyed after the trial ?...

Assuming that they will be destroyed at one point ??!
