How much does it cost a NON O visa, am going to apply in Vientiane soon.

The NON O visa for volunteering can also be a multiple entry? I mean, can I apply for a multiple entry NON O visa based on volunteering?

When am back in Thailand I'll apply for a work permit, how much does it cost to get it?

Thank you ;)

The fee for a single entry non-o visa is 2000 baht. Vientiane does not issue any multiple entry visas (5000 baht).

You will not be able to a multiple entry non-o visa for volunteer work any any nearby location.

Thanks for your reply UJ :)

Could you please enlighten me on the procedure?

The embassy will give me a NON O visa single entry, and when I enter Thailand I get 90 days?

During these 90 days I have to go to an Immigration office that will give me an extension based on volunteer that allows me to stay for one year?

During this one year I have to do the 90 days report?

Cheers

Whether or not you get a one year extension or a 90 day extension depends upon the organization you are working with. The organization must be able to get a signature from a government department to apply for the extension for one year. Without that signature the total stay is limited to one year that includes the 90 day entry from the visa and 90 day extensions. After that one year you would have to go out for a new non-o visa.

You will need a work permit to get the extension of stay.

Thank you UJ.

Sorry but it's not clear to me. Let's assume I will have all the required signatures and papers in order, and a work permit (we are already working on this with the school).

With the NON O from Vientiane I get 90 days when entering Thailand?

During these 90 days I will go to Immigration and get a one year extension of stay based on volunteer?

Then I will have to visit Immigration every 90 days?

Which are the busiest days at Vientiane Embassy? If am not wrong Monday and Thursday because of the visa service company?

Thanks again ;)

Whether you get a one year extension depends upon meeting the requirement under 3 here from police order 327/2551. If not it will only be for 90 days as shown 2.

Quote

2.21 In the case of necessity where the alien must stay to perform duties in a public charitable organization, a foreign private company, a foundation, an association, a foreign chamber of commerce, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, or the Federation of Thai Industries:
(1) Each permission shall be granted for no more than one year.
(2) In the case where there is no certification made by any government agency under Criteria (3) hereof, each permission shall be granted for no more than 90 days of stay, the total period of stay shall not exceed one year from the date of entering the Kingdom.

The alien:
(1) Must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).
(2) Must have been confirmed and requested by the authorized person or the person holding the highest position in the organization, and/or
(3) Must have been confirmed and requested by the head of a government agency equivalent to or higher than the departmental level or by the head of a state enterprise or by the head of another government agency relating to the organization.

After getting the extension you will need to do reports of staying longer than 90 consecutive days.

Hi everyone,

I'm a board member of a registered Thai Association and I have recently encountered issues with my visa.

I have joined this association 3 years ago but I had to leave the country every year to make a new visa since the one I got could not be extended more than 3 consecutive 90 days (=1 year).

I went to Savannakhet last month and my submission was rejected (because I already had 2 non-imm "O" volunteer visas in my passport) and I was given the following notice that even my Thai colleagues do not clearly understand.

Since you have a real expertise for those questions, I allow myself to post this with the hope that you could direct me to the right official department that would allow me to carry on my official duties during the time of my "mandate".

Thanks in advance for your lights and advice!

D.

What allows you to work is a work permit from the labour office. For the extension of stay you either have a letter from the relevant government agency that the organisation deals with, like the education office in case of teaching, and you will be allowed extensions. Without it you just get 90 days extensions ad have to leave after 1 year to get a new visa.

I do have a work permit since I joined the association and even with it, my application with all required documents (copy of the registration, TAX ID, cover letter, ID documents of the president, etc.) was refused even if the duration of the mandate in the association rules is 4 years.

I have also to let you know that the association deals with "arts" and a couple of years ago Thai members went to the Ministry of Culture to try to get the "letter from the relevant government agency" but the public servants at the Ministry told them at the time, that they have never seen such a document...

It seems to be a catch-22 situation.

Has anyone of you seen a "letter from [any] relevant government agency"?

Thanks again for your help!
