Advanced Info Service (AIS), the country’s largest mobile operator, has made the second payment of 10.9 million baht for the 4G licence on 1800-MHz, National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) secretary general Takorn Tantasith said on Dec 12.

Through its subsidiary Advance Wireless Network (AWN), AIS won its 4G licence on 1800 MHz in November last year — on frequencies 1725-1740 MHz and 1820-1835 MHz — with a bid of 40,986 million baht.

On Dec 12, AIS made the second payment of 10,246.50 million baht plus the 7% VAT of 717.255 million baht, or 10,963.755 million baht in total, to the NBTC.  The firm also submitted a letter of guarantee from a financial institute for the third payment of 10,963.755 million baht (including VAT) to the NBTC.

The NBCT will forward the payment to the Finance Ministry.
