BANGKOK, 18th December 2017 (NNT) – A deputy prime minister is convinced that the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has a contingency plan to allow political parties enough time for their pre-election activities.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said today he believes the NCPO will retract its ban on political gatherings and activities when everything is ready and that parties will be given enough time to for their campaigns as promised.

In response to a call for an amendment to the organic Political Party Act, the deputy prime minister said such an amendment is possible and would be legal, however, no decision has been reached on it at this moment.

When asked about the legality of the selection of two election commissioner candidates by the Supreme Court, Wissanu said he doesn’t know if the selection was carried out legally because he wasn’t involved in the process, adding that the matter will be discussed between the chairman of the electoral body and the president of the National Legislative Assembly.

No, of course not. The longer you wait with the small things, the longer the big things take too.
