help with Visa Info please

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, please can you help me with the following. I arrived in Thailand on the 20th of November and received a 30 day Visa at the airport. I went to immigration in Hua Hin and paid 1900 Bart to have my Visa extended for another 30 days. My flight home is 20th of February so I wish to stay another 30 days. I understand to extend my Visa for another 30 days I need to go out of the country and must be done by air travel only. Is this correct, or could I drive to one of the borders and get a 30 day extension. I am based in Hua Hin, and for me would be great if I could ride my motorbike to one of the borders, taking a few days to do it, and not have to fly.Any help on which boarder I could drive to, would be most appreciated, I heard that by land I only get 15 days, but if I could drive there, then maybe I could do it twice.Any help much appreciated,Thankyou.Best regards, David

You don't have to fly out and back to get a new 30 day visa exempt entry (it is not a visa).

You can do it at some border crossings.

The nearest crossing to Hua Hin where you can do it is at Ranong to Myanmar.

UbonJoe, do you know from where this guy is? Is he an american or british, australian, or what... Maybe from a country that can not get 30 days... Would be good to know in order to learn from this..

He is certainly eligible to get a visa exempt entry since he has already had one plus an extension of it.

Since January 1st of the is year all nationalities get a 30 day visa exempt entry at land borders. The 15 day entry rule was rescinded then.

Thanks Joe, great to know...

Are you really having a VOA or do you have a TOURIST EXCEMPT VISA??? The latter is NO VISA..

No onward ticket is needed to apply for a 30 day extension of a 30 day visa exempt entry (it is not a VOA).

You will take a boat to Myanmar from Ranong after clearing Thai immigration at the boat docks.

Only your passport is needed. You will pay 500 baht or $10 US for a border pass to enter Myanmar.
