wildpikey
I used to be a fairly good traveler and enjoyed the challenge. But to be honest, I am over that now and just want it to be as easy as possible. I am considering going to Savannakhet in Laos to renew my Thai visa. I don't need information on the visa process etc. But would love to hear some travel info on someone who has done this trip recently... Nok air do a fly / drive from Bangkok to Mukdahan, I am not quite sure how this works, then I presume over the border in a bus? Any advise would be gratefully received.... ubonjoe
The ride part of the service only takes you to the bridge or into the city of Mukdahan. After you get the bridge you take a bus to to Savannakhet. Info about the fly/ride service is here: https://content.nokair.com/en/Booking/Where-we-fly/Flight-Service/Fly-n-Ride/Sakon-Nakhon-Mukdahan
MaeJoMTB
You take the bus from Mukdahan bus station, stops and collects you after each immigration, and ends at the Bus Station in Suvannakhet. Cost is around 50bht for the complete journey. Thai consulate is about 200m back down the road from the Suvannakhet bus station. I usually stay at the Avalon Residence about 150m from the Suvannakhet bus station, which you can book on Booking.com et al. No need for any m/c taxi that rip you off, everything is in walking distance of the bus station.
