Book In ?

Featured Replies

Gidday people,I arrived in Thailand on the 7th Dec,on a tourist Visa from Australia, with a view to retire here. Now I was told last night that I have to "Book In'.is that true? Also cos Im late I will probably be fined?Thankyou to any replies.

It would not be a booking in you would do.

A assume they were talking about the owner/possessor of the residence doing a TM30 to report of your pretense. Whether is it is needed or not depends upon where you are located.

If staying in a hotel, guest house and etc they should of done the report.

If reporting yourself you might be fined up to 2000 baht.

So a tourist can stay in a small hotel for 3 or 4 weeks and then goes to Imm' for some reason and finds out that the small hotel hasn't submitted the TM30 and could 'possibly' end up paying a fine ??

If it is clearly a hotel or guest house, I have never heard of the tourist being hassled. If it is a small bed and breakfast or Airbnb rental, it could happen, though most immigration offices tend to be lenient with tourists who they understand cannot really be expected to be aware of such 19th century rules.
