POLICE HAVE a strong lead in their investigation into an alleged plot to illegitimately claim winning lottery tickets worth about Bt30 million, officials have said.

“We have received very useful information from the Central Investigation Bureau [CIB]. So far, we have not yet concluded the case because we need to wait for results from forensic tests,” Provincial Police Region 7 deputy commander Pol Maj-General Krissana Sapdej said yesterday.

National Police Commissioner Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda assigned Krissana to head the investigation into the dispute between teacher Preecha Kraikruan and retired policeman Charoon Wimul over five winning lottery tickets.

Charoon cashed the tickets for Bt30 million last month, but then Preecha came forward with allegations that Charoon was not the legitimate owner of the tickets.

According to Preecha’s claim, he bought the lottery tickets from a vendor he was familiar with but he lost them and suspected that Charoon had found them. Both Charoon and Preecha live in Kanchanaburi province.

Believing that local police had taken sides with Preecha, Charoon submitted a petition to Chakthip in Bangkok.

Provincial Police Region 7 headquarters has taken over the case from local police in cooperation with several other police agencies.

CIB chief Pol Lt-General Thitiraj Nhongharnpitak and deputy chief Maj-General Chavalite Sawangpuech attended a meeting with Krissana and representatives of the Crime Suppression Division and the Technology Crime Suppression Division yesterday.

Krissana said the Technology Crime Suppression Division would help investigate both Charoon and Preecha’s phone records.

“We will solve the case quickly,” he said.

Police are currently considering six disputes over winning lottery tickets. Of the others, two are in Bangkok, one in Udon Thani, one in Suphan Buri and one in Kanchanaburi.

Police find useful information !! Only useful info they will find is the kind that gives them the biggest cut.

The bitterness from this out come will gnaw away

if the true owner is found not to be the owner,

consequences in the future I expect to hear about,

What gets me if the lottery tickets had been found by a taxi driver

it would have all been dealt with so amicably already.

Yep but that only applies to the lost property of tourists.

open and shut case realy if the teachers fingerprints/.dna are on the ticket, he is the rightful owner, how else would he have been in contact with the tickets, funny, even the local cop shop was taken off the case, doesnt that tell you something ??

Sounds more like a ruse to weed out the liar in all of this. When police here get information on a case, they blurt it out straight away before thinking. They just can't help themselves from showing off.

Ah! So you're about 80-90% finished? We didn't get the usual percentage of completion nonsense.

People have to take more care with their  lottery tickets,6 lots of lost WINNING tickets seems suspicious,

to say the least.

What happened to the DNA samples they are waiting for.

Note to self, if I ever find winning lottery tickets I will make sure to

wipe them clean of fingerprints and make sure my DNA is the only

DNA that can be found on the tickets.

For a country that can produce DNA results in 24 hours when needed to fit up some scapegoats, seems to be taking a long time.

Of course they may not have replenished their supply of testing materials as they were short when required to test DNA for the poor cadet murdered by his Army mates.

And the loser is " the truth "!

Maybe better to have loads and loads of DNA on them including dogs and cats and whatever you can find on cigarette butts around town.

Still trying to decide the cost of the "proper" outcome to the winner of this case no doubt!

The local cop shop was taken off the case at the request of the cop, not the teacher, so what does that say?

They all want a piece of the cake , just let them share the prize . It's enough money for a life time in Thailand.
