webfact Posted December 21, 2017 Share Posted December 21, 2017 Confirmed: 20 percent discount on Hua Hin-Pattaya ferry over Christmas Thaivisa has been able to confirm the details of the reduced prices on the Hua Hin-Pattaya ferry over Christmas. On Wednesday it was announced that Royal Passenger Liner Co Ltd would be reducing prices for passengers over the Christmas period. However, there was some confusion on how long the promotion was available for. On Thursday, Royal Passenger Liner Co Ltd confirmed to Thaivisa that economy class ticket prices will be reduced between 25th Dec to 5 January 2018. During this period ticket prices will be reduced by 20 percent for ferry crossings across the Thai Gulf, between Hua Hin-Pattaya and Pattaya-Hua Hin. geriatrickid Posted December 31, 2017 Share Posted December 31, 2017 Having taken the ferry over from Pattaya a couple days ago, it was a bit choppy. Alot of the people were puking into the green garbage bags handed out. There were about 65 pax on the boat (capacity 300+). Looked to have 100 pax on the dock for the return back. Not enough pax to make a profit or to sustain this route. I have seen fewer numbers at off peak tourism periods. The ferry is not state of the art and shows its age. I will be surprised if this venture lasts another year as it is not set up for success. Purchasing a ticket is difficult and access to the ferry is difficult and a negative. If you are elderly or have a mobility impairment, forget this option. The walk out to the boat at the Bali Hai pier is a good 15 minutes and going to be difficult if carrying a bag. Arriving at the KT dock was a nuisance. Slogging across that dirt patch is not a good first impression and it must be disgusting when it rains. Having to navigate the communal pick up truck "transport" system is an insult. Seriously, they expect customers to pay an inflated fare to arrive at a place where it's a stressful annoying exercise to obtain transport to town? No thought was given to making this sustainable or attractive. The ferry services a foreign tourist demographic and they provide transport options better suited to an up country small town market depot. Not overly bright and a complete disconnect of marketing savvy. Hua Hin is an upmarket destination and the tourists are typically older. It's only been in operation a year or so, and just getting any kind of construction approved takes that long (if they're lucky). They were also making noises about better, purpose built boats to replace the ones they acquired 2nd hand to start the service and test the market. They could be a year or 2 from the factory. And it can take a while to dial in the amenities at each end, fighting the taxi mafia fight, getting concessions set up, and improving the experience that comes along with the boat ride. Especially if they haven't nailed down a permanent location for the facilities. Not time to stick a fork in it just yet. Especially if the purpose built boats can haul scooters and (say a little prayer) 4 wheel vehicles. Hopefully, it's patient money and they'll stay with it long enough to iron out the wrinkles. Or, quoting Jack Nicholson, "What if this is as good as it gets?" Oh, and if they're tuned in here, pick us up at Khlong Toei pier in BKK and haul us anywhere nice in reasonable comfort, and you'll have a customer for life... hammond Posted January 13, 2018 Share Posted January 13, 2018 I have had a few fiends use the ferry an had only good reports and been said it was good value But one of the major things they need to sort out is a shuttle service bus to Hua Hin to stop the vultures at the key side raping unsuspecting people.
