Lomprayah Catamaran then bus to Surat Airport

Featured Replies

There is a Lomprayah Catamaran  then bus service to Surat Airport leaving Nathon at 8am claiming to arrive for 1045.

How reliable is this as there is an Air Asia flight at 1145 though obviously non changeable if i want the cheap ticket.

Too big a punt or better off getting the 1330 flight?

When are you going?

Right now the sea is so rough that they cancelled departures to Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.

The Lomprayah catamaran is an excellent service, I have used it several times for flights at 12.05 and 13.00.  The 12.05 was a bit tight and I was a little concerned in case of any traffic jams in and around Surat Thani but the last time I went they took the A44 south of Surat then the A41 north to the airport.  A lot less traffic and a smooth ride.

If the seas are OK to sail but too rough to dock at the usual port they will take you further round the coast to a river port and then from there to the airport.

Personally, if you have the option of the 13.30 flight I would go with that one even though it will mean more time hanging about at the airport but that's just me, erring on the side of caution :-)

Thanks leaving on the 26th ... seems as if its not a good idea to leave it close at this time of the year.

Get the 13.30 flight you won’t make the earlier flight ??

Would recommend getting a combined ticket Flight-Bus-Ferry so if the ferry or bus has a problem they should get you on the next available flight, at no extra cost to you.
