I traveled most of the world when i was working, and after retirement. The only continent I missed out on was South America. At my age, travel is not a pleasure. It's an endurance test, which I don't need. As you say, everyone's circumstances are different. With my pre-existing conditions, no insurer would even consider me, and that has been the situation for 20 years. My only reason to go back to Australia would be surgery. There is certainly no financial reason to do so. The icing on the cake is 6 months worth of a single prescription, for a benefit of about $350, and as many tubes of squeezy Vegemite as I think i can pack. For the last 15 years, I have felt myself palpably relaxing as I land in Chiang Rai airport, returning from Australia. I guess that shows where my head and heart are.
