O visa based on marriage reporting

Featured Replies

Hi

I will be leaving Thailand to work sometime in the next 2 weeks, this will be well before my first 90 day reporting, can anyone please confirm if i need to report to my local immigration before leaving the country.

thanks in advance.

You will not need to do a report of staying longer than 90 consecutive days in the country since you will not be here that long.

You report will be due 90 days from the date you enter the country after your trip.

yes that was my understanding, but today i went to do a day trip to lao, at Chong Mek and was told by the immigration that I would only get a 15 day visa and i would loose my O visa if i didn't go to the local immigration first and get a re entry permit,  when i asked why they refused to talk english with me and would only talk in thai with my wife, so i decided not to leave Thailand

i have no idea why they wouldn't talk with me as i wasn't rude, i just asked him to explain how i wouldn't get another 90 days

have you ever seen this issue before ?

You are now on an extension of stay based upon marriage issued by immigration not a multiple entry non-o visa issued by a embassy for consulate.

You need a re-entry permit to keep your extension valid if you need to leave the country. The fee for a single re-entry permit is 1000 baht and 3800 baht for multiple.

thanks again, i will go to immigration tomorrow and get a multiple re-entry permit.

When you get that re-entry permit it will have the same permitted to stay until date that you currently have from immigration extension of stay so on return make sure they put that date on your passport as your new permitted to stay date.  And be sure you enter the re-entry permit number as your visa number on arrival card each time.

I always thouht it reset the the clock on entry so your 90 day report will be 90 days after your re-entry in Thailand date.

Happy to be proved wrong of course.

?

We are talking two different things - yes a 90 day report is due after being in Thailand 90 days.  But poster does not seem to be aware of what or how to use a re-entry permit and was trying to make sure he understood entry is for normal permitted to stay - not 90 days as he seemed to believe (post 3).

Just one of the problems with calling everything stamped in your passport a 'visa'.

Think a slip of the finger 1000 has to be 1900 THB

Lol. You question Ubonjoe. Think again my friend. 1900 THB is for an extension. UJ is correct in his costs for a re entry permit. 1000 THB single, 3800 THB multiple.

No slip of the finger. The fee for a single re-entry permit is 1000 baht. The 1900 baht fee is for an extension of stay application.
