Pattaya Crime News on Facebook reported "confusing" goings on at Pattaya police station after an Iranian apparently banged to rights trying a 160,000 baht con was let go.

The man drove away on a motorcycle after a friend arrived at the station.

Earlier the Iranian - acting as a tour guide for his countrymen visiting the resort - was adamant that he had been robbed of $4,800 dollars. But police questioned the man closely and some things did not add up.

Their suspicions were further aroused when the wife of the Iranian said he was heavily in debt and had been to see loan sharks.

Eventually under heavy questioning he admitted it was all a lie - the money belonged to the tourists and he had used it to pay his debts now he was trying to place the onus on them to come up with more.

Police checked his urine to see if there was anything else and marijuana showed up.

However, the Facebook site further reported, that soon after a friend of the suspect turned up. In next to no time the suspect was walking out the police front door and driving off on a motorcycle as if nothing has happened.

The police investigative team were pressed and said that the case was "unclear" so no report was made and the Iranian was not detained. If reporters wanted to know more they referred them to the station chief.

Just a normal day at the office ! :cheesy: :cheesy:

The requisite envelope had been delivered!!!

Friendly and considerate BIB.............:cheesy:

Not even charged with wasting police time, drug use, making up false accusations and defaming others and "working" in a reserved profession as a tour guide !.....

In this case money have exchanged hands tea money again

Very strange story , looks like someone bribed a police officer. Surely that can't be ?

Just like you, I would be totally shocked to even imagine that could happen.

Spot on!

Whilst it obvious to any one with half a brain that a bribe was delivered, Pattaya police display no shame to the watching populace.  They are above the law - Untouchables.

At least police checked...........some times you could find money in the urine.

And this is exactly why Thailand will not change much in our lifetimes. Sad

Geezer

Nothing a little tea money couldn't fix....or a lot of tea money. Nothing to worry about, situation normal.

I saw a similar thing with MENA type people  at the entrance to walking street, A guy had been detained by police -  he made a call - an Arab looking guy turned up on a motor bike - after some cajoling the suspect was let go and disapeared on his motor bike.
