Improper Phuket temple statues to be removed, reworked

PHUKET: Work on removing or remodelling 17 statues and other structures at Phra Nag Sang Temple in Thalang that have been deemed improper will begin at the auspicious time of 9:09am tomorrow (Jan 10).

 

The news came at a meeting attended by Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong yesterday (Jan 9).

 

The 17 irregular erections came under scrutiny in November after a rash of comments posted online lambasted the temple for allowing such figures on blessed ground.

Yeah, what the heck are those doing there?  I guess this is a modern temple so they are putting more contemporary weapons instead of ancient traditional swords, and knives and spears?
