snoop1130
Italian-Thai Development Plc sued for 46 million baht in compensation for the death of two geologists Mothers of two geologists who were killed when a falling boulder crushed them to death inside a tunnel of a dam in Mae Taeng district of Chiang Mai last year on Wednesday jointly filed a lawsuit to the Chiang Mai provincial court demanding 46 million baht in compensation from the dam constructer, Italian-Thai Development Plc. In the lawsuit, the two plaintiffs, Mrs Penchan Sasu-anan and Mrs Orathai Siriwat, mothers of Mr Pratyawat and Mr Pathomporn, both geologists working for Italian-Thai Development Plc, told the court that they didn’t believe that the fatal incident which caused the two men’s deaths was not an act of God which could not be prevented. saakura
My sympathies are with the 2 mothers who lost their sons in the prime of thier life. But it is going to be more than tough to be fighting against a behemoth like Italthai which has very powerful backers and deep pockets.
Banana7
The falling boulders in a construction site are definitely not an act of God or Buddha. They should sue for more at least 50 million each, plus costs. Safety of the work place is the employer's responsibility.
HOAX
Rip to those geologists, but wasn't the geologists there for a reason, to determine whether it was safe or not? That's why they were hired, I'm assuming. Not sure how Italthai can be sued unless they've done some obvious mistakes. But hey, I'm no lawyer. When people win in lottery, it's an act of God. When something bad happens, it's just God being mysterious... unless something bad happens to someone you don't know, then it's revenge for their sins... Humans and reasoning anno 2018 BC... I mean AD.

Will the family of the electrocuted man on the Bali Hai pier Pattaya also get 50 million??
greenchair
Cambodian's are killed at thai construction sites through sheer negligence on the part of the contractors every year. How many million do you think their families get? ?

Just like saying Apple or Microsoft should be closed down. For what? Italthai is the biggest infrastructure builder in Thailand employing directly or indirectly, hundreds of thousands, thai, farang, burmese, etc

If their safety standards had been so abysmal that they should have been completely shut down a long time ago, they would not be in the positiin they are, even with powerful backers. I am not claiming that they are the best but your statement is exaggerated. Major corporations, Asian Development Bank, Japanese giants, UN bodies all do business with them. I hate to say it, but a company's safety record is not always down to their policy, but also the day to day people working within the organisation. See below picture from late 2017, an academic entourage on a site in Bangkok to review an incident involving a collapsed pile. One guy smoking a cigarette and none of them have proper PPE. Safety is everyone's duty, and unfortunately in Thailand as many other third world counties they don't bother to educate properly. Take a look around, flip flops, bamboo ladders up to pylons, working at height without any form of harness. It's in their DNA, Buddha will take care. RIP Ps.
