Hi, Does anyone know the dates that the Thai consulate in Vientiane, will be closed during the Chinese new year in Feb, second week? Or rather will they be open on Monday 19th February 2018. Cheers Chris.

Same here for immigration and etc.

Thaivisaservice have a trip planned on the 18th which will arrive on the 19th so yes it will be open

Wait until the 19th to be on the safe side. Vientiane is better avoided during any festivities.  The damn boat festival in October was a nightmare, the whole river front a no-go area. Does the visa service still use the La Ong Dao hotel? On no account stay there, what a depressing dump. Plenty of nice places by the river.

I assume you are aware that use of the international bus from Khon Kaen requires that you already have a Lao visa. That bus does not take passengers planning to get a Lao visa on arrival.

February the 16th is shown in red on my calendar but it is not a official holiday. Banks, immigration and etc will be open.
