visa expires 24th, flying out on 25th

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I will fly to hongkong on the 25th for a short trip and to get a new SETV there, however my visa expires on the 24th (its already extended) and my gf booked our flight for the 25th. Is there anything I can do now besides cancelling the flight because just 1 day.

What you guys think ?

no charge at airport for one day overstay, you could apply for another extension 1,900 baht, it will be refused, but you will get a 7 day permission to stay stamp

If you are leaving from either airport in Bangkok you will not be fined 500 baht for one day of overstay. The will do a little stamp stating you overstayed less than 24 hours.

Other airports may charge you 500 baht for the overstay but a one day overstay is not that big of a deal.

You'll be dinged 500 thb in Phuket, but they are very nice and polite about it!

An easy way is to ensure you go through Immigration while your visa is still valid. You would then need to stay in the departure lounge until you fly. Boring, I know, but a possible answer and feasable, (?) and no problems as far as I can tell. Your luggage would need to be checked of course, (if you have any). Other than that, good luck!

Not always that easy since many airline's check in counters would not be open that long before the flight.

And I am told Bangkok Suvi-nami has a six hour limit on holding checked in baggage
