Election delay will not be long: Wissanu

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said on Tuesday that any delay in the election as a result of a proposed amendment of the MP election bill to extend its enforcement by 90 days would only be “a month or so”.

 

Wissanu said he believed that the delay would not be as long as some people feared. As such, the election could still be held to schedule.

 

But if the election is to be delayed, the government should come up with an explanation that people can accept, he said.

 

The Deputy PM, who is also the government’s key legal expert, said the amendment bill still has a long way to go. It has to pass deliberation in the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) before proceeding to law reviews and other processes. This would take about one more month after the NLA’s endorsement of the bill.

Ok, how long is a piece of string?

Pretty much coordinated to fool the people. Can see right through this pantomime. Give up junta, just gazette the election date if you really serious and not try to prolong your stay. 

Well in keeping so far:

'There may be a bit of a delay.'

'Yes, it looks like there will be a delay but not long. Certainly it should be held by...'

Wait 6 months.

'Yes, unfortunately another slight delay but rest assured it will be held by mid-to-late next year.' 

Bingo. There is another year and a half they buy themselves. Rinse and repeat.

It's so exciting, they're hinging on 2018, can't wait for the excuse that blows it beyond December and off into the far distant future.

2019, I believe is the year Thailand assumes the rotating leadership role in ASEAN.

They have made it still more abundantly clear now that they were lying from the start and the 'election roadmap' terminates at the end of the rainbow after nearly 4 years of excuses after excuses. The public, politicians and media are either going to either have to poop or get off the pot, as this junta will go nowhere of their own free will. Hell, they have even lied to the Prime Minister of Japan, the UN, the EU and the president of the USA...

thailand's future is grim; while i do agree with a popular sentiment that thailand is not ready for democracy;, the other , visible options are equally ugly

when discussing thailand's governance with my intelligent thai friends, their collective, boiled-down, paraphrased answer so so often is : you (westerner) expect far more of thailand than we do

I think we all made the mistake of thinking '...in our lifetime...' Obvious these cronies are talking in terms of geologic time spans or perhaps astronomical time. Oh I get it, they are waiting for one of those near Earth rocks to get very very close then...yeah yeah yeah. I do wish they'd shut up until it happens.

The NLA always passes thing 193 - 0, so why the need to deliberate?

Deliberate the margin by which it will pass? Sometimes there are up to FOUR abstentions...

Could it be just a misunderstanding by mixing the letters....

 

The public want an election while the PM has been waiting for 4 years to have an erection, which could occur in 2019 if the viagra finally kicks in..

 

No election before erection...
