The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed the Human Rights Watch (HRW)’s World Report 2018, saying its narrative on human rights situation in Thailand contains ungrounded allegaltions and politically-biased accusations.

“Like last year’s report, the narrative missed the prevailing facts on the ground and intentionally ignored progresses, positive developments and efforts undertaken by the Thai Government,” the ministry said in a statement released on Jan 23. HRW released the World Report 2018 last week. The 643-page report reviews human rights practices in more than 90 countries, including Thailand.

For Thailand, HRW pointed out repression of civil and political liberties, imprisonment of dissidents, impunity for torture and other abuses as major human rights problems in the country.

OK, list them.

Oh, yea? And let me guess; this isn't their fault.

But be someone else's fault.

good point; common here to confuse talk with action and results

How surprising? Yet another report critical of Thailand dismissed by the Government as incorrect, outdated or politically biased. Bullshit! The report is spot on and the rest of the world knows it.

HRW narrative is spot on and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not. We see the repression of civil and political liberties, imprisonment of dissidents, impunity for torture and other abuses as major human rights problems in the country just like the HRW daily. The junta has in fact up the ante and making ridiculous attempt to delay election; a serious human right violation of disallowing universal suffrage.

I think what they might be saying is 'Come on! We aren't as bad as we were the year before...'

Of course it is not their fault. Thais are perfect. I would say the same if I was as uncapable as the Thais.

It's true as Thai Nationals and Even Foreigners cannot say anything bad about the Goverment and others

Without the fear of jail

Do you know how to recognize inept, inadequate people?

Well, they always demand unproportionally high praise and enthusiastic patting on the back for all those few insignificant thing they actually DO achieve, while at the same time they greatly resent all and any criticism of the important things they have NOT accomplished, acting upset in the process.

And by the way, why is EVERY criticism of the Thai government or its policies or its lack of accomplishments ALWAYS and invariably "politically motivated" and/or "biased" - at least in their view?

Yep... there it is... these bustards are definitely thai haters who spew false allegations about thailand.... just as well they aren’t in Thailand, otherwise they would be locked up for defaming the country!

worryingly, the Thai response to international critism on these matters seems to involve giving the international community the middle finger

thai 4. Whatever... love it. ???? come invest your money here... don’t worry about that BS mining company we’re trying to screw, just show us da money...
