FDA approves first mRNA-based flu vaccine

https://edition.cnn.com/2026/08/05/health/moderna-mrna-flu-vaccine

It must be good if rfk jr's FDA approved it.

The US Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday approved the United States’ first mRNA-based flu vaccine for adults 50 and older, drugmaker Moderna said.

“Flu remains a significant public health challenge, and mFLUSIVA provides an important new option for America’s seniors,” Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel said in a statement. “This approval also reflects the ongoing potential of our mRNA platform to help address important public health challenges through continued scientific innovation.”

The new vaccine was found to be about 27% more effective during the 2024–25 respiratory virus season than standard flu shots in Moderna’s study, which enrolled over 40,000 adults 50 and older.

Side effects included injection-site reactions such as pain, tenderness and swollen lymph nodes; fatigue; headache; muscle or joint pain; nausea or vomiting; and fever.

There should be a large independent survey to ascertain what percentage of the population still actually believes this BS.

You've obviously never had the flu.

I wonder if this vaccination makes you feel sick overnight as the first COVID vaccination did.

Say hello to mFLUSIVA, the first FDA-approved mRNA influenza vaccine

Available in the US in a few weeks. Not sure about Thailand.

Made my Moderna. Same folks as the Covid jab.

Will you be taking it if available in Thailand?

A post with significant misinformation has been rrmoved.

MRNA vaccines are not experimental, not gene therapy nor do they involve any sort of "gain of function".

He used to snort cocaine off a toilet seat so we can trust his opinion

I've had flu twice, far worse than covid, if elderly I would definitely get the jab

Just checked out Moderna's website to see which other vaccines are in the pipeline.

Stages 1 - 3 development, and then released.

A lot of mRNA vaccines in the pipeline.

And there may be other companies working on (different ones) too maybe.

What do you recommend? Hiding under the bed?

For the flu, I guess you can choose not to take any vaccine.

But for some of these more serious illnesses, there may not be too many other options besides the mRNA.

Gene therapy alters DNA, but mRNA (apparently) does not.

Those, who know what FLU means and how it can affect you life, would take it, no doubt. Those with little or no knowledge would refuse it, as always.

Try to keep your immunity high by no drinking alcohol/smoking and eat healthy, no junk. Not all need flue vaccines if your body resists flue naturally.

Don’t forget some daily or at least 3 days a week physical activities, type of exercise, not too much of sexercise.

But not everyone will make the effort to maintain a high immune system.

That's why these vaccines are needed.
