Which neighbouring country to apply for Non-B Visa

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Some background:

I have previously worked in Thailand for 2 years and I entered on a Non-B from England and received a work permit shortly afterwards, then I continued on the yearly extensions. I resigned from that company and gave work permit back and have been on visa exempts since.

My question is, if I start work for a BOI company, would I be able to go to Laos or Malaysia to get the Non B? I heard something about Laos requiring a work permit before they issue a Non B. I also know things are different because I've had a work permit before?

Thanks everyone.

You will need a work permit application approval letter (AKA WP3) to apply for the non-b visa at any nearby location.

They will also accept a letter from the BOI requesting the non-b visa instead of the approval letter.

Vientiane's requirements are here: http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/upload/pdf/Visa/Non-B business.pdf

@ubonjoe I checked KL embassy and it stated you need to be resident there to apply? Guess this is incorrect.

Its possible to get this done at Penang in Malaysia right? That's most likely the best option

Not unless you are from a listed country.

Not shown on this checklist for a non-b visa, http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/contents/files/services-20170329-105635-807825.pdf

Yes it can be done there. Same requirements as KL.
