BANGKOK, 29th January 2018 (NNT) – The government has set up committees to push forward Thai Niyom project to solve problems at grassroots levels by promoting participation from all local administration organizations.

The government wanted 2018 to be the year for Thailand to be changed in all aspects, including the working system of state agencies, trade and investment and the assistance to be provided to the grassroots people.

He said enhancing prosperity in all provinces nationwide will require cooperation from all parties, from the provincial, district to sub-district levels to mobilize development projects together with the people. Meanwhile, each province must determine its own strengths and weaknesses to further develop and improve its potentials.

The committees governing the Thai Niyom campaign included a national level committee chaired by the Prime Minister, a provincial level committees chaired by provincial governors, the district level committees chaired by district chiefs, the sub-district level committees that have local officials and community leaders as members, and the committees for Bangkok's districts and communities.

The campaign is aimed to address and solve problems in all aspects, such as living quality, agriculture, irrigation system, road network, public utilities and the providing assistance to the 11.4 million people registered as low-income earners.

The government will be working with all provinces that have assessed their strengths and weaknesses to help make problem solving plans, and to allocate the needed budget for local development projects in line with the desire of each area.

Talk is cheap! Yet another serving of meaningless grandiloquent words and empty phrases from the frog kissing PM. Who does he think he's fooling? This gibberish is an insult to the grassroots people. Nothing more than a sop to the country folk to try and restore his diminishing popularity.

Like the election and everything else he promises, nothing will happen.

If you're establishing a glorious new political system, then you must have a central political and social philosophy to underpin it. The UK has Magna Carta, the USA has it's Constitution, the French Republic has "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" (apologies to my French friends - bloody Anglo Saxon spellcheckers).

Prayut's Thailand will have "Thai Niyom"!

But strangely no mention of human rights, freedom of speech, universal suffrage etc, etc, etc.

Tell the unelected government official that represents a Junta what they are doing wrong.

And then the unelected Junta official will tell you how long you need to be re eductated incarcerated in a military base.

I'll bet the lines will be no more than 4 deep.

Magna Carta is important but really focused on the rights of noblemen in relation to the King.I would suggest the key measure - with implications for the common man - for the UK was the Declaration of Rights in 1689 subsequently put into statutory form in the Bill of Rights.

Is this an admission that the agencies currently in charge of these “aspects” of life have failed

And I’m sure all these committees are really really going to make things more efficient.... not!
