NamKangMan
So, it's a 500 baht fine for a serious assault, theft, causing a serious motor vehicle accident etc etc, but for smoking on the beach, 1 year gaol or a 100, 000 baht fine. This one is ripe for the BiB's picking. Edited January 31, 2018 by NamKangMan
Goldieinkathu
"and especially tourists" Me thinks they will need to build a bigger jail.
Timbob
A fine of 100,000 is ridiculously excessive. Even 10,000 would be excessive. I don't go to the beach anyway, but I do vape (though very discreetly here in Thailand).
smedly
this is being done under marine protection law, I'd like to see the first case go to court and see how this law applies to smoking and how a judge could possibly convict Now a different matter if someone is caught throwing a butt end in the sand (or anything else for that matter) An honest judge would laugh them out of court People are being slaughtered all over Thailand and this is what they think is important - if they had brains they'd be dangerous Edited January 31, 2018 by smedly

RichardColeman
I remember when I first came to Thailand, there was a big Neon sign at the Airport - Smuggling Drugs carries the death Penalty". Maybe they need a big neon sign for you to look at in the immigration cue on entry !
