Hi pet lovers!

I have a 4 year old, 8.5kg shih tzu that I'll be taking to Vietnam with me when I move there in 8 weeks. Many airlines do not allow snub nose breed dogs on their planes, whether it's in the cabin or as checked baggage.

Solution1: Take him as cargo. The problem is that I've still found that some airlines (like Qatar) still won't allow snub nose breeds on their planes even as cargo. Do any of you know which airlines allow them on their planes as cargo? If so, how do I book them onto the same flight as mine? I'm finding that there is limited info on airline websites.

Solution 2: I'm not even sure if this is a solution. Just a suggestion from a friend. He said that if I go to my vet and get them to give me a certificate stating that my dog is a different breed (but similar in appearance) like a havanese dog, then that's all that will be checked and I'll be able to take him on my flight as excess baggage. What do you guys think about this?

I'll live in and will be flying from Bangkok to Hanoi.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Lufthansa still takes snub-nosed dogs, but you have to go in person to their office.

You can also send a message to James to Relo4paws on facebook. He and his company have lots of experience with sending dogs abroad. He may be able to help you.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm actually in contact with James already and he should be able to give me a price for taking him cargo within the next day or so. I'll check out Lufthansa in the meantime. Thanks again.
