Can I get a re entry stamp (I have a one year retirement visa) at a land crossing between Nhong Khai and Laos ? Thanks !

You can get a re-entry permit at the Nong Khai crossing. There is desk for them there.

Not sure but I think it is before the immigration desks.

Thank you as I'm hearing differently I'm hearing you can only get a real tree stamp at certain airports are certain land Crossings. Is this something you've got documentation or direct experience with? Thank you very much for your time and Speedy response. :-) David

I am not sure exactly what you mean. I can confirm that, on payment of 1,000 baht, you can get a re-entry permit to keep your permission to stay intact when exiting at Nong Khai.

When using smaller border crossings, it is better to use your local immigration office, though the closest full immigration office to a border crossing will generally do them when there is no re-entry desk at a crossing.

My advice is always get one in advance before travelling (just in case)

Its called planning

Asking for advice / info prior to traveling isn´t part of the OP´s planning process?

The Nong Khai Immigration office is about 1 km before the actual border.  I do not remember if there is a re-entry stamp desk at the border itself (because I have never needed one), but playing it safe , the actual Immigration is not that far away.

thanks everybody? From the research I've done in the replies in the site it looks like there is an immigration office in Nong khai not necessarily the Border but I've got the exact location from a expat group on Facebook. I appreciate all the information keep it coming and have

Can someone please let me know about the 3 mth visa stamp you obtain at the border. I have a 12mth non-o retirement visa with multiple entry. Every 90 days I have to go to report to immigration which is not hard to do (or leave and return to Thailand). But my non-o expires soon. Can I go to Laos/Myanmar and back and get 3mths visa? I don't know a lot about this topic yet. I keep wondering why people do these visa runs and not just report to immigration?

If you are doing 90 day reports to immigration you do not have a non-o visa issued by a embassy or consulate. You have a one year extension of stay based upon retirement you applied for at immigration and perhaps a multiple re-entry permit.

If you cross the border and re-enter the country will only get an entry up to the date your extension ends.
