Why So Slow?

Why has TV been so slow during the last 2-3 days? It sometimes takes ages to load a page, and even fails completely, and I have to start again.

Have you run a trace by any chance to see where the delay is taking place? I am in Thailand and not having any problems last several days so don't believe it is a server trouble but probably routing changes being made now that repaired cables are starting to come back on line. Server is in Singapore and up until the last few days that path from Thailand has been very congested - now better for us but worse for Europe it seems. Expect things will get better as the net returns to normal routings.

I agree. The forums have been painfully slow here over the last 24 hours, but the tracert and speed test don't seem to back that up, so I thought it must be a server issue. The tracert shows an unusual route from East coast Australia, via Perth, L.A. and Hong Kong to Singapore but the latency is still OK at 250ms or so. The Thaivisa speedtest gives 400kbs. Not brilliant but OK. Why are pages taking 20 to 40 seconds to load?

The server is perfectly ok, we are monitoring the traffic and server status 24/7. It's the incoming connections that are congested.

From Chiangmai University there has been no delay issues for the last several days. Page load about 1-2 seconds. Ping about 200 ms, most of the latency is just from the uni to Bangkok.

I’m finding the site extremely slow tonight. I logged on an hour ago and have to wait minutes or more for a page to open or refresh multiple times. Other Thai web sites are fast. I’m using a connection through Dubai.

Here in the UK page loads are taking 10-15 seconds, ping is about 150 mS but a traceroute shows it going via Palo Alto, Sydney and Hong Kong with some delays.

This and many other sites will probably get a bit faster if you replace your hosts file with one from mvps.org. Will prevent 'junk' from third party sites.

I ran a trace it bounced all over the place, sydney twice and japan twice, 20 hops.

KK.com loads quick, their server is in the states I think.

I'm in Sydney and conection to TV has been painfully slow ever since that earthquake that severed internet cables off Taiwan.

Could this still be the source of the problem?

Hi again. Just thought I'd post to say that speed of loading forum pages is back to normal tonight. Tracert shows more direct routes being used but still changing around a bit. Hope the much improved speeds persist.
