a few days ago Google announced a new adblocker included in their Chrome browser that would eliminate some annoying ads.

http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-43072266

To take effect on the 15th of this month.

I understand the needs of ads to financially  support websites that we use, but there are some that are extremely intrusive, such as flashing ads that give me a headache or loud self play adds with no ability to turn off or turn the sound down.

It is now the 17th and I still see ads  on my Chrome browser that use the above mentioned undesirable techniques.

So what gives? is there something I need to do to enable it.

PS: I was reading about it on CNet and while the article was saying how great it was, there was aloud autoplay ad going on the side LOL

Have you manually updated your chrome browser (Settings / Help / About Google Chrome)?

from a Washington Post article:

"Google’s stated goal is to make the Web less infuriating to navigate. “It’s clear that annoying ads degrade what we all love about the Web,” Chrome Vice President Rahul Roy-Chowdhury said in a company blog post Tuesday.

"Using the coalition’s standards, Google will evaluate the advertisements on websites and rate them as acceptable or failing. Sites rated failing then have 30 days to shape up their advertising and submit themselves for reevaluation or face having their ads blocked by Chrome.

"Google said it has so far identified 1,500 of the Internet’s most-trafficked sites with ads that violate the new standards. About 850 of those have a failing status — meaning that they could see their ads blocked within the next 30 days.

You mean it will not automatically block these annoying ads but  will warn them to cease and decease and if they don't comply with in a month then they will   block them?

800 websites? there must be millions of websites out there. How high on their list is TVF  LOL
