The cabinet on Tuesday (Feb 20) approved the Education Ministry’s proposal to set up a fund for equal right to education with the proposed starting budget set at one billion baht.

However, the cabinet had made some changes to the ministry’s proposal out of concern that the fund might not be used efficiently.

Government spokesman Lt-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the cabinet resolved that the amount of budget should not be fixed at 5 percent of overall budget allocated for education as proposed by the ministry, but should be considered on yearly basis by the government.

I would change the word 'efficiently' to 'ethically'.

The kid at the back doesn't have a proper chair. Hopefully the new fund can help with this problem.

i live this thinking; doubtless the brainchild of the new ed minister,teerakiat, who sits in the cabinet;

in this way, he doesnt have to go thru all the work of crafting a budget, a lot of work;

as well, he justspulls a number, any number, out of thin air;

almost worked too

90% of the funds going to somewhere else.

What could possibly go wrong with this model involving 1B THB?  :whistling:

Oh...do not be such a sceptic! You know that at least 1000BHT will arrive where it is supposed to be used. :thumbsup:

Actually I do not understand this "equal right to education". I would have thought that 1B THB would be better used in improving 'education' for Thai children. You know, just move forward out of the medieval times.

Well we all know what happened to the poor people's fund money.

1000 for you and 2000 for me.

Then there's the temple renovation fund or something like that.

I'll give you 1 million and you give me back 600000.

1 billion to be given out to someone for something.

Sounds normal to me. ???

Creating new projects could be just another way of rewarding "friends & supporters"? :whistling:
