it is the only credit card accepted at makro

If you specifically want to use it at Makro make sure you get the Makro branded card. Makro also accept the blue coloured Citi rewards MasterCard.

All Thai Citibank issued credit cards are accepted at Makro.

I just got my Citibank ROP card last month as well. I have a work permit and good income here, so they gave me a 400kTHB limit. Hopefully I can raise it after a few months as my monthly expenses can easily exceed that.

I had 5 years of credit using AMEX Thailand and 2 auto loans, so it was just as easy as the above poster mentioned.

I didn’t push it with Citi, so you could always ask. However, they gave an unrequested increase of my credit limit (to around 4x salary) after 1 year of my account being in good order. I started off at about 1 months’ salary limit.

I have 2 other Thai CCs, but these only offer about 1/3 of salary.

None of these CCs come with any ‘deposits’ required.

In summary, my advice for expats with WPs - try Citi !

It also depends on the branch if they are willing to facilitate a CC to your or not.

They have a lot of leverage in this.

I received a CC from BB and Kasikorn without a WP or deposit account against the CC.

But i have a very good relationship with long history with both branches.
