PHUKET:-- It has been confirmed today that untreated wastewater being released into the sea at Patong Bay is starting to bleach the soft corals in the area.

Speaking to The Phuket News today (Feb 23), Dr Vipawee Dummee, a lecturer at the Faculty of Technology and Environment of the Prince of Songkla University, said, “After carrying out an inspection at Tritrang Beach, at the south end of Patong, this morning I found that the soft corals are starting to suffer from bleaching.

“It proves that the issue of untreated wastewater being released into the sea here is not yet over. It also shows us that the release of this untreated wastewater into the sea is having an impact on the marine environment.

But what is it doing to tourists in the water ?

But who will get the greater punishment? Those responsible for discharging untreated wastewater into the sea damaging a large area or the two Russian tourists with a handful of dead corals?

Let's wait and see.

There won't be any tourists. The area will be overcrowded by locals hoping to get a free skin bleaching.

Poor coral, nobody seems to want to take care of you.  They either ram into your, steal your or poison you.

Thai's wont be totally happy until they live in a land of sludge, turds and rubbish dumps

This comes after they are blaming the Chinese tourists...........

LivinginKata, from 1985 to 2010 I spent nearly all my winters on Kata beach.I absolutely fell in love with Kata and still have many friends there. Due to the influx of millions of tourists and big price hikes, and the heat , I now  spend my  winters on the eastern seaboard which is much cooler and far less rain. I go back to see my friends every 2 years or so for a week. What I see upsets me. One of the last times I swam on Kata beach, i emerged from the sea a bit sticky. The next day  it was worse, and had me running back to the hotel for a scrub in the shower ! I don’t think it was the oil from jet skis etc, but of course they don’t help.I know The water was polluted  in  Patong years back, 10/15. +.

Needless to say I won’t be swimming there any more, and will make sure I have a nice pool for my next visit. It’s a crying shame , some of the most beautiful spots in Thailand ruined by greed .

And Nero AKA the illustrious leader does nothing. Same same as Nero.

Oooops, I forgot - he did help the farmers in some way, so I was told.
