Wow! I’m shellshocked after reading some of these comments coming from misinformed armchair experts on obesity. I want to vomit.

Yes, these ladies are overweight and bigger than some of the commentators but they are far better human beings than their accusers/abusers will ever be. Obesity is not always the result of what you eat. Some people are born that way just like some ignorant idiots are born that way and others are ignorant and spiteful simply because they are not good people and choose to demean others because it makes them feel good. Which are you?

I would much prefer to move in the same circles as the fat people than the narrow minded bigots who choose to judge others so harshly without even an iota of an idea on their circumstance. Shame on you and may karma catch up with you some day. I would walk a thousand miles to avoid your circle.

These ladies don’t deserve your venomous attacks and they certainly don’t need your approval to live their lives by your ignorance induced standards.

Maybe you are the armchair specialist because it actually is always the result of what you eat.

Fat is stored calories (energy) and your body can only store energy when you consume more than you use.

Due to medication or genetics your energy use can be very low, or your consumption very high (cravings), but it is still the result of what you eat.

Energy (fat) cannot come out of nothing, its physics.

So what you are saying is that some people are born with this which is why some people are overweight, not because they walk around with their snouts in the trough as suggested by some, but it’s part of their DNA. And so it’s still shameful that they are attacked by others for who and what they are. I see a lot of skinny people eating crap food and not put on an ounce. Why not attack these people too. Stinks of double standards.

Nope, that is not what I am saying.

I am saying that it CAN be caused by medicine or genetics, it can also just be overeating.

I would say in most cases it is overeating.

You’re playing both sides of the street. Talking about disgusting comments and you say, “especially taking into account the average looks and bodyweight of TV members.”

We should ask Bob to think of the brightest geniuses in the world today and give us the percentage of how many of them are fat.

What a friendly comments on here so far. Quite disgusting actually, especially taking into account the average looks and bodyweight of TV members.

You can warn people that obesity can lead to serious health problems, but that doesnt mean you should also try to insult obese people and assume they are dumb/stupid.

I agree 100%, why being so mean ?

Totally agree with this assessment. While I question the name of the pageant and the award of bananas... live and let live. They are fully aware of the health risks, I'm sure. Being obese doesn't change WHO a person is.

Who organised the prizes? They run a "Big is Beautiful pageant" and give out bananas, one of the healthiest of foods, as a prize? What an insult!! All the hard work theses ladies and ladyboys have put into their glamour careers to get this far, and they get bananas? Where are the chocolates? Where are the cakes? Where are the bottles of champagne? The winner owns a bakery, and gets bananas? One can only imagine the depth of her disappointment at this affront. Heads need to roll!!

50 years ago there was a lot less of them born that way. Fat I mean, the idiots have been around longer.

ok, so there is no need to body shame or name call them for being fat... but equally you should not beautify obesity. These women should not be applauded for their size or be given trophies to congratulate them for overeating. Obesity is a killer and it should never be encouraged. Telling women it's ok to be obese and that they should be proud of their bodies is sending out the wrong message. Do you think the medical professionals would endorse this glorification of obesity.. I think not!
