Train passenger found dead near tracks the following day

By The Nation

Police are trying to establish how a passenger on an Udon Thani-Bangkok train was later found dead near railway tracks in Chaiyaphum.

The body of Udon man Thongsai Saibung, 44, was found about 50 metres from a track that runs past a rice field in Moo 3 village, Tambon Lahan, Chaturas district, late on Sunday night.

A villager called police after spotting the body while walking home.

A ticket was found on him showing he had caught the 7.15pm train from Udon Thani the night before.

His body was sent for preliminary checks at the district hospital, where doctors found two wound in his head, indicating he had been hit with a hard object.

Police intend to interview officials who had been on the same train to find out what happened.
