Activists last month protest on the Pathumwan Intersection skywalk to call for elections this year.

BANGKOK — A university student and a citizen journalist charged with violating the junta’s ban on political gatherings said the regime’s attempt to crush dissent by targeting a larger swath of activists would backfire.

Chulalongkorn University student Aomtip Kerdplanant and citizen journalist Sa-nguan Khumrungroj – among 39 people charged for joining protests last month – said the junta’s move to go after many protesters and not just the leaders would motivate more people to come out in opposition.

No, no, no........Thai Niyom Yangyuen is designed to bring the masses together.

In the eyes of some with a huge PM photo gallery these movements will warrant the purchase of the armored anti riot vehicles last year.

Thankfully the Mai Ben Rai is wearing off.  The junta will be told to cave soon as large demonstrations will be an embarrassment to the country, and there is very little moral authority to appease the population.

And although these early protesters are paying a price they will be the catalyst that will spur on the larger demonstrations. The junta is doing their part by cracking down which brings in greater media attention and waking up more people.

I have something of a cold and and not at all at my best, but here goes:

No violence, no riots. Ridicule is what is needed. Imagine those pompous generals reacting to a custard pie dripping down their spiffy medals? How could they justify sending in the head smashers, but what else could they do to save face? Or outlawing 'Smirking and pointing to the wrist with political intent'?

A good tear up is what they want. An aggrieved people doing funny walks and sticking a red nose on their conks will completely throw them. Just look at the hissyfits over Pinnochio masks - who needs black balaclavas...?
