Anyone from Scandinavia did visarun to Savannakhet at this year? I read that people from Scandinavia dont need visa to Laos at this year but also read that in Vientaine border officer didnt know anything about this visa exemption rule and those travelles had to pay for visa anyway.Im going to Savannakhet at this month and Im from Scandinavia,wondering if officers in there are update for this or not.

 

”In an effort to promote tourism during the Visit Laos Year 2018, the Lao government will provide VISA exemptions for citizens of four Scandinavian countries: Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. The visa waiver will take effect from 1 January and will cease at the end of December”

I find it quite odd that Laos immigration would not be aware of the nationalities entitled to visa exempt entry. By 'Vientiane border' do you mean the Friendship Bridge, train station (or even Vientiane airport)? Where did you read that Lao immigration was insisting on visas where none should have been needed?
