Police to take action against firms leasing signals to call-center scammers

BANGKOK, 1 March 2018 (NNT) – Police and NBTC will take action against seven firms allegedly leasing signals to call-center scammers.

National Police adviser Pol Gen Tanitsak Teerasawat and Deputy Tourist Police Commissioner Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpan announced the results of an inspection of VOIP operators with the call-center scammers allegedly using their networks to call their unknowing victims in Thailand.

The investigation found the seven firms renting numbers and network bandwidths from main mobile network operators in Thailand before leasing them to third parties. Scammers allegedly rented these numbers from those firms to make calls. Such arrangement was considered an violation of a telecommunications license under the Telecommunications Business Act BE 2544.

National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission's (NBTC) Director Pichai Suwanakijboriharn said authorities will call upon VOIP operators to block unidentified traffic from foreign countries, and to use SIP Server to detect suspicious traffic from GSM Gateway devices in an attempt to prevent fraudulent activities.

Well, as long as the police will only arrest them, fine and deport back to their country

and will start putting them in prisons for few years there will be no need for the Telco

companies to be responsible wo that is clearly the police job to do...

"...authorities will call upon VOIP operators to block unidentified traffic from foreign countries, and to use SIP Server to detect suspicious traffic from GSM Gateway devices..."

yes, we will get right on that. :cheesy::cheesy:

maybe each little data packet should wear a helmet too.
