A north eastern Thai cop pictured at a checkpoint in jeans and casual shoes has been put on clerical duties at HQ pending an investigation into his behavior and that of his superior.

But he gave Sanook an explanation - he had just come from a plain clothes drug bust and hadn't fully changed yet.

Mukdaharn chief of police Maj Gen Apichit Thanpermpoon was not pleased when a Facebook post showed Pol Capt Rakchart with a police tunic but jeans and open brown shoes at the checkpoint in Nong Soong district.

So he ordered his immediate transfer to clerical duties and set up an investigation into him and his chief as well.

But the captain said that he had just come from a minor drugs bust at a house. He was in the process of changing from his plain clothes into his police uniform in a car when a colleague asked him how to set up the cones for the checkpoint, claimed the captain.

So he got out of the car still not properly dressed and showed him how to arrange the cones - that was when he was photographed.

A video posted on Facebook on the page of Big Karian appeared to show the earlier drugs bust.

I sincerely hope this was what you read before posting.

Of course he didnt have time to change, there was tea money to be had, that is more important than being properly dressed.

???? Since when is there any tea money included in changing clothes in a car?

OMG . Haven't you heard of the connection between police roadside checkpoints and 'tea money'. Time to catch up, maybe?

He was out telling how to put the cones in jeans before the check begun. Do you realize how much you degraded your common sense with that comment, or maybe you are just interested in complaining about nothing all the time about Thailand.

So, the poor guy has been put on clerical duties for helping one of his less experienced colleagues.  Yet, it was the captain who sent this, "less experienced colleague" to set-up the checkpoint.

Lesson number one for the captain - "Your subordinates are only as good as the training you have given him!"

Furthermore, the Chief has disciplined the guy before even asking for an explanation!

I think the captain has some explaining to do.  Good luck to the guy in jeans; sometimes, life realy sucks!

OK.. So you can't join up the dots in colinneil's post, and/or you don't have a sense of humor. Unlike some TVF members I no longer wear rose tinted glasses in LOS, and despite what you think I give credit where it's due. eg Jomtien Immigration.

Do you have to wear rose tinted glasses, just because not need to repeat about bribes, envelopes and everything else that is so popular among the posters here?

I am so happy that you are one of the TVF members that have seen the light and really know how everything is. At least you believe that in your non rosy dreamworld.

As i said Col who takes these coppers seriously? Look if he was not dressed right and was doing his job enforcing the law then i have no worries about this. Even if he was naked  but doing his job which is enforcing the law that would be more important.  Last night in Ubon around 6 it must the time the idiots on the road get the nod " Ok guys do what you like on the roads the cops have called it a day"  Said to partner last night at shop look at that rabble on the roads, 4 on a bike no helmets, speeding way over the limit., noisy mufflers, texting while on bikes, No lights, speeding with no lights. I said to partner it looks like Thailand is just a country with no laws I am going home next week and i am seriously thinking about not coming back. My nerves are shot. When watching all this you can hear the ambulances speeding to accidents. Its like a bloody war zone. They say it is anarchy on the streets in Liberia in Africa No law no rules do what you like well i tell you mate i reckon Thailand might nearly be on par with Liberia I guess i be ok in couple of days time after not looking at that Maybe a few beers might relax me
