Featured Replies

Dear Fellow Thaivisa.com Posters,

I would greatly appreciate ur kindest helpful replies to the following enquiry ;

EU Citizens on Department of Social Welfare "Pension" etc from respective country of EU [ incl. UK ( still in EU ) ] ;

Some specific Questions :

1_

How successful have u been with getting Dept. of SW Allowances for ur Thai "Child" & / or "Spouse" with u all based in Thailand  ?

2_

And, for circumstance where for whatever reason u have been delayed in applying, or indeed notifying, the department / ministry,- how successful have u been with getting payment backdated to when 1st child :

2_1

conceived [ standard 36 weeks prior to birth should be approx. date basis of course ] ?

2_2

born ?

Thanking u in advance for all ur constructive help.

p.s.

I accept that there are folks out there who are against the concept of these payments being given to expats.

But, to them, please note that I wish for this thread to not receive such opinions.

I just want the FACTS ONLY as to :

X_1

What was [ & perhaps also continues ] to be policy

X_2

What is current policy

1. What country exactly (in the EU)

2. What do you mean by "child" and "spouse" in quotation marks? If nto actually your child (by birth or legal adoption) and nto actually your spouse by legal marriage then even back home not sure yo uwould qualify.

Thank u Sheryl for reply.

Re; ur questions

I prefer not say because :

1_1

Since membership EU has effectively dissolved each constituent country's sovereignty, & also the fact that the principles of EU norms & each country needing to represent itself as "bankable" country, etc. it follows that this enquiry is vitally important & applicable to all "state pensioned" EU citizens.

So, specific name of country is not necessary to be stated.

1_2

As I am in dispute with my country for they not issuing me these allowances back-dated, as specified,- I necessarily need to protect my situation vis-a-vis Consulate, or other hostile bureaucrat, noting my enquiries on the internet whereby I return with concrete evidence of any EU country issuing above allowances back-dated as mentioned.

In fact, I was told verbally, by ex-pat, that to back-date these payments according to my position is standard per that expat's country [ Not my country though ].

I put Child & Spouse separately in "double inverted-commas" for purpose of helping reader to know that I am entitled to SEPARATE allowances for each.

And, yes, I am entitled to such allowances ;

And, am receiving allowance.

But, I have dispute about "back-dating" the allowances as stated above.

The bureaucrats are holding fast to date when I, in person, told them formally at their office in my country ;

Although, I had told them shortly prior by phone-call.

But, moreover, in Thailand, I was effectively prevented from telling them when I learnt that my spouse / wife / partner pregnant because :

2_1

my contact agreement as expat was broken -- grievously --  by the bureaucrats

2_2

searches by me of my state's "actual" websites, & also "quango" websites, did not inform of these actual entitlements, & thus ==> I had no function in telling them ;

However, on the prompting of an expat from another EU country informing me that this entitlement applies to his country, & some more for sure, I breached this matter when I returned to my country for to procure personal mobile phone number of senior civil servant with whom I originally had special contact agreement for to get help Re; any problems I might face as expat located in any country.

Upon returning to Thailand, I submitted documentation -- incl. Thailand Birth Certificate, & scanned completed Application Form as attachments -- to my state.

Subsequently, I have been receiving payment from my state.

Again, the issue at hand is ;

ALLOWANCE FOR "CHILD", & ALLOWANCE FOR "SPOUSE", TO BE BACK-DATED TO :

X_1

DATE OF CONCEPTION

OR FAILING THAT

X_2

THE DATE OF BIRTH
