webfact
BMA to build new marine fire station By The Nation The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will build a new marine fire station in Yannawa district to cope with rising condominium and building projects on the Chao Phraya River, a senior BMA official said on Wednesday. Prayoon Krongyos, deputy director of BMA’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, said the new marine fire station would be built at a BMA wastewater treatment plant in the Chong Nonsi area in Yannawa district. In the first stage, the marine station would be a makeshift office built from cargo containers. The BMA would later seek permission from the Harbour Department to build a permanent fire station. At present, the BMA has only two marine fire stations - the Boworn Mongkol station and the Samsen station, which are inadequate to cover residential and commercial building projects on the banks of the Chao Phraya, he said.
