Another kind Pattaya German - and this one sure loves even the mangiest of soi dogs!

Germans are well known for their love of dogs.

 

Frederick the Great of Prussia once said that "the more I see of men, the better I like my dog". While writer Carl Zuckmayer believed that "a life without a dog is a mistake".

 

Franz Kafka said: "All knowledge, the totality of all questions and all answers is contained in the dog".

 

Perhaps this deep attachment to dogs makes it hardly surprising that one Teutonic animal lover has set up a group to help out even the mangiest of mutts in Pattaya.

 

The resort - most known for its notorious sex industry and underworld criminals - now seems to be teeming with those that the Thais deem to be "jai bun" (kindhearted and full of merit).

Herr Adrian Joseph, 34, who lives with his family in Soi Wat Bun Samphan in Bang Lamung was featured on the Facebook page of Sophon Cable TV yesterday.

 

The media reported that Herr Joseph was often to be seen outside Pattaya's department stores with family and friends trying to raise funds for strays and canine accident victims that he picks up all over the area.

 

He has a sign with him on a tricycle - along with a few canine specimens to help people give generously - that says: "Please donate - we look after handicapped dogs and stray cats. We need money for medicine, food, vaccines and care - Thanks for your kind donations".

 

Many people show an interest. As the sign says it is not just dogs that this kind German looks after at his home and the nearby temple. He has twenty cats to go with his ten recovering dogs.

 

At the temple next door there are 100 dogs and cats and there are plans to expand when they have enough money.

 

At Herr Joseph's four story property there is an a la carte restaurant out front - with begging bowls and signs on the tables asking for more donations to carry on the fight.

 

Last week Thaivisa reported on another German resident of Pattaya, Herr Abele, who makes food for and helps the homeless. His passion is helping people.

 

But he may now have a rival for the moniker "The Kindest German in Thailand!"

Well, until herr Franz kafka would live in Pattaya or in Thailand for that matter, where soi dogs

are nothing but a nuisance and a health risk, he will rephrase his quotation....

I like this man! Let us all collect the annoying soi dogs, and send then over to him by truck loads.

Just managed to have a soi dog relocate probably to the wat .

It has been barking and shi7ing right outside our gate for months and the owner keeps saying just let them know they will clean it up.

BTW Franz Kafka was a Czechoslovakian.

 

And another guy that try to make money with animals...many of that kind of "organization's" become quite rich by playing with the animals love from other peoples!

so if one of these soi dogs he's taking care of bites somebody, is he the legal owner and responsible for the action of the dog?

In Germany it is unthinkable to not help animals, since animals are protected under german law and every living being deserves to get the chance of having a good life. Maybe a little something other countries can have an educated look at. It is quite frankly not necessary to refer to german males as “herr” and it is not common practice to add a title infront of a name, maybe if referring to a medical doctor, but that’s really it. 

Just the other day it was reported that rabies is on the increase in Thailand, killing humans as well as other animals.

 

These mangy soi dogs should be put down, not saved.

Surely there must be a better final solution this German could devise.

Unless he also sterilizes the dogs and cats, he just adds to the problem, not helping....

That is fine and dandy as long as they crap in his yard. Neighbor has two mangy dogs he lets run around and they come and shit in front of my place every morning. If this was the U.S. I would shoot them. there would be 2 dead dogs.

I'm glad I don't live on Soi Wat Bun Samphan !

I am pleased I do not live next to this guy, or near that temple. People feed the stray dogs right near our condo and this encourages a big group of them to hang around. The people who feed them are there for 20 minutes, while the rest of us have to put up with the barking and mess 24/7.  It’s misplaced philanthropy and does nothing to solve the problem.  Take them home with you and properly own them full-time.

Sadly , these Soi dogs should not be roaming the streets . No amount of medicines or vaccines will not stop them fouling the pavements. No good looking for someone to take them in because it very rarely happens. Families just don't have the enclosed gardens or whatever to keep them in. .... so back to the Sois they go... scavenging, peeing and pooing as they think fit. I have three dogs , all were strays, all are well fed, fit and happy to run around our 8 Rai of walled gardens...... yes ,I know I'm lucky and so are the dogs !

Well, I've just been bitten by one of these dangerous animals and I have had to go through the rather expensive vaccination process. Fingers crossed I come through it OK. I am a dog lover but there is no place for these strays. They should either be properly re-homed or destroyed if that is not possible. Rabies is a terrible disease and many of these dogs carry it.

It is against Thai law to kill animals. (Yes, I know, they still kill pigs, chicken, cattle, ducks, geese, fish, frogs and who knows what else...) Even Thai Veterinarians do not euthanize cats or dogs.

 

Feel free to put them down if you dare. Or donate to have them neutered.

Well-meaning but misguided, as far as I can see this chap is just prolonging the dog problem in Pattaya.

.... and Chonburi was on the list of provinces where rabies is most prevalent. Rather him than me and best wishes to his neighbours.

Year of the DOG...Abandoned Soi Dogs must be rounded up and disposed of... leaving feces on walkways... disease skin and fur from eating garbage for Thais and Foreigner whom do not separate or recycle items... Plastic bags items only  used to hand over counter and seconds later walking out of 7-11 deposit plastic bag after item is taken out! Mindless people contributor funds to manage Soi Dogs a great way of getting funds like cure for Cancer...how about prevention of Cancer easy no Pharmaceutical Drug company or MD that your body is more educated in prevention and cure!...ops off subject. Oh yes dog packs at night howl in a wave...one area starts and like a wave others start... neighbor downstairs has a puppy that steals shoes left outside as normal Thais do, I like the dog and keeps the cats off my bike from claw sharpening on my seat. A mess outside the dog owners door..food spilled and now invites other dogs to eat as well ...odd shoe and slipper stolen from neighbors door... this dog female will have puppies and become a Soi Dog soon as neighbor has no responsibility puppies health and well being....

Sorry he is not a good man all his dogs making noises still running around I live here and every evening and night the dog's run after people from my balcony I see people screaming get scared when they walk or drive motorbike 

Soi dogs are dangerous and sorry mister you only do this for stay Thailand and don't care about other people and their safety
