Probe launched after more Pattaya hazmat found in Khao Maikaew

Khao Maikaew:--Chonburi’s governor has launched an investigation into who is responsible for 30 more tons of hazardous hospital waste discovered at a controversial Khao Maikaew dumpsite.

Khao Maikaew Mayor Jamnien Kitipakul met March 2 with Santi Pancharoen, from the Chonburi Provincial Administration Organization, to discuss the continuing problem of infectious waste illegally stored at the site.

The 30 tons of used syringes, soiled tissue and other castoffs from hospitals and clinics in Pattaya had been left at the Khao Maikaew site since late 2016 and was stored outside under the sun instead of in a controlled environment as required by law.

Chonburi said the storage and the length of time it was stored were both illegal and the governor’s office formed a fact-finding committee to determine who ordered it dumped there and why it was left for so long.

Pattaya,s answer to there hazmat problem ( along with other trash issues ) is to just dump it anywhere.

That's an easy trail. Each hospital has a signed contract with a licensed medical waste disposal service.

Each medical waste disposal service has a contract with waste management companies with either correct storage and/or incineration facilities.

Contracts have been signed, invoices paid, medical waste collected... and someone somewhere has a new BMW 7 series.

Yep...we are onto the problem...sorry it's only taken 2 years but I lost your phone number...now what is the problem again?

I would suggest they interview a number of hospitals and clinics and determine who they use to dispose of their 'hazmat' and take it from there.

I recall we used to pay a premium to a company to remove and dispose of it where I worked once and they too were just dumping it in remote areas.

If this is a common used location a few small hidden cameras may be able to identify vehicles, it isn't likely to be a motorcycle!

It's a translation thing.

If it's hidden from plain sight then it's outside of the environment.
