Change of Visa TM.86

Featured Replies

Stay in Phuket with Tourist Visa (60 days valid until 20april) with the opportunity to make extansion for another month. Now I would like to stay longer then this 3 month. It is  possible to change the visa into a Non-O (TM.86) for making retirement status? And which documents are required? Have enough money at my Thai bank account since more then 8 month. Phuket Immigration says, they dont have the power to do it. Maybe I can get the Non-O on a Thai Embassy in KUL, Penang or Phnom Penh? Or do I have to go bck to my home country in Europe to do it? Is anyone here with experience? Thanks

All offices have been authorized to accept the application for a change of visa status. Once accept it is sent to the division headquarters for approval (division  6 in Hat Yai for Phuket). Perhaps you were not asking the right person at Phuket immigration.

Requirements are here. https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_80

Penang wil do a single entry non-o visa but you need proof of retirement along with the proof the 800k baht in the bank. Most people have used a income letter from their embassy showing any amount of income to prove they are retired. Others have also used a statement they are retired done at the embassy.

Thanks Ubonjoe. In line with the informations I get by your link, it seems that I have to do it by TM86 at least 15 days before I have to ask for extansion of my tourist visa for 30 days more, which is valid at the moment for 60 days until 20 april.

You can apply now for the change since you have a lot more than 15 days remaining on your 60 day entry.  Some offices want you to have 21 days remaining. The 15 days remaining can also be from the 30 day extension.
