They really need to learn the bus drivers and drivers of HGV vehicles,

when descending hills, mountains, you need to use your gears to slow

down, foot off the brake, until really needed, its brake FADE ,not brake

failure that's causing the accidents, and they don't seem to know or

care that's the problem,

You cannot go flying down hills, fourth gear,or even in  neutral, foot on

the brake and hope to navigate bends with a full bus,or HGV loaded with

whatever,there will be another tomorrow,next week,next month,thats a given.

A truly tragic and "avoidable" loss of life.

Whilst the regulations and safety record of government run coaches has improved over the past ten years. Sadly private rentals lag very far behind with very little oversight or regulatory framework . I am stunned that yesterday 18 people died and 50 more were injured in two seperate coach accidents.

Unfortunately "Unavoidable" in Thailand :coffee1:

re, sugar cane driver, he said he had done no wrong, yet reports say he pulled out in front of the motorcyclist, this lot will have you believing black is white here,

That has to be the most stupid, crass comment I have ever seen on TV.

Well done !  What a douche.

This bus probably has a dash cam which recorded the brakes skidding noise also.... if i were a bus operator, i would not fail to put a dash cam in every vehicle given how cheap they are and the value of recording accident events.

There are ten types of driving licence issued in Thailand. The seven main types are listed and explained below.[3]

  • Type 1 - Temporary Private Car: This licence is issued to those who have successfully completed the driving test. This licence is valid for a period of two years. Licence holders are not permitted to drive outside the country.[citation needed] (Many Thai people who live/study outside the country have claimed to be able to use the temporary licence to drive in that country without any problem, with some even receiving the confirmation from transport officers themselves that they are allowed to drive there. These countries include United States [might depend on the state], Australia, and New Zealand.)
  • Type 2 - Private Car: This licence is issued to those who have possessed a temporary licence for a period of two years. This licence is valid for a period of five years. Private Lifetime Car is no longer issued to new applicants but remains valid to existing holders.
  • Type 3 - Private three-wheel vehicle: This licence is issued to those who wish to drive a three-wheel vehicle, commonly known as tuk-tuk.
  • Type 4 - Commercial Car: This licence is issued to those who wish to commercially operate private car such as taxi and other privately owned taxi.
  • Type 5 - Commercial three-wheel: This licence is issued to those who wish to commercially operate three-wheel vehicle such as Tuk-Tuk drivers.
  • Type 6 - Motorcycle: This licence is issued to those who wish to drive a motorcycle.
  • Type 7 - Road work licence: This licence is issued to road construction vehicle drivers.

The post  wasn't about fault, it was about a stupid juvenile crass comment from what must be a mentally challenged person.

How can you have a valid licence until 2019 but it is out of date. If the licence is out of date then it has expired and it is no longer a valid licence but if it is valid until 2019 how can it be out of date.

Something very strange about the licence.

What Thailand needs. They have a mediaeval mentality so let them have mediaeval punishment.

There must be some real regulation on these drivers. You will never see me on one of these buses, never!

Answer, do not travel on any paid road transport here in Thailand, my guess was right on the last post, DRUGS. Lock this scum up forever
