Urgent work permit lost

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I work as a French teacher in Koh Samui, Thailand.

This weekend I realised I probably lost my work permit when I was in Vietnam a few weeks ago.

The problem is that I am going to Malaysia tomorrow to renew my visa and I don't think the Thai embassy will accept a photocopy of the work permit.

What should I do? My employer does not seem to know what to do or care....

Many thanks

- Already reported loss to police?

- On what Visa are you? Why are you being required to go to Malaysia to renew your Visa and why can't it just be extended here based on your work (with work permit) and tax payments?

Normally all they want is a signed copy of your work permit.

I assume you are going to the embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Their check list for applying for a non-b visa for teaching is here. http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/contents/files/services-20170329-105646-383024.pdf

It states copy "9. A copy of previous or existing work permit in Thailand (for work permit renewal only)".
