BANGKOK, 28th March 2018 (NNT) – The Deputy Director-General of the Department of Highways, Apisit Promasen, said the Ministry of Transport has launched the Safe Songkran Festival 2018 under the "7-7-7" road safety campaign.

The term "7-7-7" simply refers to seven days before, during and after the holiday period, which is between April 4th and 24th, 2018.

Mr. Apisit said his department aims to reduce the road accident rate and the number of road casualties by seven percent this year.

He has advised people to take enough rest and take care of their health before traveling during the long holiday.

7-7-7? All I have to say about that is... 5-5-5

  • Please...please...pleeeeeease shut the #$@% up and let Songkhran go by as always! Your idiocy will not change anything. It didn't last year...or the year before...or the year before that!

How about zero tolerance for road rule infractions with the most serious offences resulting with an impounding of vehicles until after the holiday?

Should be named 666 according to some of the fear of water mongers.

Satan's Songkran, I must flee for fear of injury or wetness!

Is that a genuine, achievable target or just something the PR department cooked up to match the campaign title?

'He has advised people to take enough rest and take care of their health before traveling during the long holiday'.

Is that his master plan to reduce road accidents?

Maybe they could offer seven virgins for each safe driver.

Highways and roads - Thailand's Gladiator Arena.

Didn’t they use ‘7-7-7’ before? Everyone knows that slogans and buzzwords only work one time.

Drink 7 bottles of chicken essence, 7 times a day, with 7 glasses of water.

With that sort of figure you can clearly see they have little faith in their own upcoming efforts.

Could be a challenge to find them.

They won't need many!

Songkran as safe as most other things here? Then rest assured in pieces.

I predict the carnage will be seven times from last year.

Your idiocy will not change anything.

It didn't last year...or the year before...or the year before that!

You are not serious about preventing deaths!

You don't care!

All you want, is your stupid face in a camera and your dumb name in the news!

Enough already!

Why not 365 - 365 - 365, that will make sense...

Noise, noise, noise

No action! I want action!

The last time they had a 7-7-7 the accident rate went up! I think this is a bad omen.

And why only a 7% reduction? Big thinkers.

Well, it was a question...

however it was one delivered in cynical mode...

rhetorical if you will...

not requiring an answer, as such...

The 7% solution.

Where would they find that many?

With suggestions like that I think my choice of 477 in the seven dangerous days sweep might be a tad over cooked
